As an artist and woodworker

In my artistic work, my intent is to convey and invite feeling. I utilize whatever medium is suitable, whether that be the next musical phrase or series of gestures, the design of a garden gate, a painting about rain, or a wooden bowl to commemorate a life event.  My wish is to serve the impressions of the moment. For a wood bowl, this might comprise knowledge of the tree's life, the grain of the wood and the intended use of the bowl. For a painting of rain the inspiration proceeds from the sensation and memory of what it looks and feels like to be in the rain. For a garden gate, I incorporate the feelings of viewing the gate from a distance, approaching the gate and finally opening it and passing through.

My latest creative endeavors have been focused on abstract watercolor and wood turningI get inspiration from being in nature, and from my participation and interactions in group  improvisation activities such as music circles and experimental dance with live music.
